Reminds me of Ghostbusters 2

Their sequels were almost a copy of the first movies. Interestingly, they are similar in a way. Some movies sucked when it got to 3 but these franchises fell short on the first sequel. Anyone else who thought they were similar?

I slightly disagree. I can see where you're coming from, but Ghostbusters II felt more loved and cared for by its creators than Men In Black II. Whereas Ghostbusters II was like a labor of love for Reitman, Aykroyd, Ramis, and everyone involved in the film (except Bill Murray), Men In Black II seemed more like another cash-cow summer flick ordered up by the studio.

Also, as far as quality goes, I think Ghostbusters II is better than Men In Black II.

Both are 2nd rate compare to the originals..
IN fact MIB 1 wasn't all that good looking back.. it certnaly hasn't lasted the test of time that Ghostbusters has.

But they are just fun light movies.

Haha, I don't think any movie lasts the test of time quite like Ghostbusters does :)

but it was also the fact that J was the main man this time and not TLJ, until the 3rd act at least. it was funnier when J was the rookie.

I completely agree. Part of the enjoyability and quality of the first Men In Black was the dynamic between Jones and Smith, which was almost always in equal measure. Each had their own style, their own importance, their own development and characterization. In Men In Black II, the focus is put almost entirely on Smith (arguably because he's the bigger box office draw than Jones these days), thereby losing the dynamic and development. Not to mention the humor.

Both were not as good as the original. MIB 2 seemed to be better than Ghostbusters 2 in that it maintained a short running time.

Its that man again!!

That's interesting, because I think that 'Ghostbusters' has aged terribly. I think the 'Men in Black' films are immeasurably superior both in terms of wit and imagination.

Ghostbusters 2 IS underrated. People say it was mostly about the special effects, but it had solid story and scary moments in it.

Men in Black II's main problem is that it was TOO SHORT.

Ghostbusters 2 is way better than mib 2 ;)

I always hated Ghostbusters 2. Even since I was a boy.
The story doesn't make much sense. What was so scary about a painting. even as a child that was so stupid for me.

Also, the goo covering the building and the statue of liberty walking. How can you make a building walk? that was too dumb for me even as a little kid. Statue of Liberty is pretty much a building on the inside.

that movie was pretty awful. Worst than MIB 2

One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

I agree. Both clearly don't have the same level of drive as the first ones got and at times feel like re-treads. But despite that I think both are still entertaining enough, even if they noticeably do pale in comparison with their predecessors.

I've seen both, and I'll take GB 2 over MiB 2 any day. MiB 2 is far more bland.
