great film

i seen fantasia 2000 three times and i absolutely love it. i have also seen the first one and while it is a masterpiece in anmation, honestly, i almost fell asleep. 2000 had energy and bright music. my favorites were 'Rhapsody in blue' and 'the firebird'.

Yep, those were my favorites too. They both have a pause followed by a really beautiful section, and the animation on each was good too, of course.

I haven't seen it in a long time. Will you guys describe those two? Because all I remember is the one on the ark, the one with the sprite, and the one with the people in New York.

reply

Rhapsody in blue is the new york one... I don't know what firebird is though...

There's the butterfly/bats one, the whale one, the soldier, the flamingo, mickey mouse, Noah's Arc (cried during that), the sprite.

Ok keeping in mind that "Anything, as simple as it may be, may be interpreted into a more complex complicatedly defined" Is the Flamingo sketch just a bunch of flamingos with yo-yos or do they have a more complicated hidden message?

reply

The Firebird is the 'sprite' one.

dont be pessimistic. it wont work anyway

I fully agree. The first Fantasia is a masterclass in animation that in some regards has yet to be surpassed today, in terms of the abstract imagery it presents. It is marred by those cheesy little live action interludes. I often wish that the film were made without them. I remember watching this film for the first time as an eight year old getting absolutely intoxicated by the animation only to be knocked back by the interludes. Fantasia 2000 still has interludes but they are just there to introduce scenes.

Fantasia 2000 is a marvelous example from the best animation ever produced by Disney.
It just pales in comparison with such classics like "Fantasia (1940)", "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" or "The Beauty and the Beast".

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.
