Bill Pullman's Performance in this movie....

I thought was very good. He was very funny with his characters erratic and zany behavior. His acting in this movie is alot different from many of his other movies. Does anyone else agree with me?

reply

Agreed. I wish there was a sequel to this. It should have been a franchise.

This movie really opened my eyed to Bill Pullman. Now, when I see Independence Day or Ruthless People or The Last Seduction, I recognize real talent. Although, ID is attractive crap, and he doesn't get to do much.

Watching Stranger Than Fiction, I quickly thought of Bill Pullman as ideal for Harold Krick. Will Ferrel was a good choice, and I wouldn't second-guess the producers. But if I had only read the script, and were asked who I thought should play that role, Pullman would have been my fastest answer.

Now go see him in Igby Goes Down.

Yeah Pullman was on some kind of roll when this movie was made. Haven't yet seen Independence Day but Pullman's Lost HIghway performance is another knockout. I'll be sure to look for him in the Igby movie.
Gotta say though that the direction of Zero Effect is kind of listless.

Only outshined by his performance in Lost Highway of David Lynch. Bill Pullman is versatile. I also saw another movie made by Jennifer Lynch named: Surveillance and Bill Pullman was very good.

reply

I think it's his best and most interesting role. Wish he did more like that.

Check out Rick (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363029/). His character is nothing like Daryl Zero, but it does exploit Pullman's range as an actor.

I, too, was turned around when I saw Zero Effect ... I hadn't taken him seriously after seeing him as Spaceballs' goofy Lone Starr.

When my hubby turned me on to this movie, I was pleasantly suprised and entertained. It was a good movie and definately should have had a sequel. I would enjoy seeing Pullman do this character again. It was an intense, well-written and underrated performance.

I just kept thinking how awesome Bill Murray would have been in the lead role...

reply

Bill Murray -- nah, i dont think murray could have pulled off the romance or the 2 obs scene.

Thank you for that link, looking forward to watch that movie.

I liked as Daryl Zero, good movie and yeah why no sequel.

I think it`s probably Pullman`s career best performance (Lost Highway would obviously also be a contenda, but he`s got much more to do, and more different things, here as Zero than as Fred Madison in LH).

Yeah, I'm always mesmerized by the scene in the diner, towards the end, when Daryl Zero is talking about his dad being "an evil, abusive man". The way he delivers those lines and the facial expressions he uses really convey his closely held pain. Amazing. I don't think Pullman has ever been better than he was in that scene.

Pullman was awesome in this movie.

the diner scene was very well done.
