Was Rogue originally supposed to be the audience surrogate character...

Kind of like how Jubilee was on the animated series from the '90s or Kitty Pryde was in the "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot from 1989. They were all adolescent/teenage girls who were suddenly thrown into the world of the X-Men. But then mid-way through, it was decided that Wolverine was going to for all intents and purposes, serve as the audience surrogate. I guess it would kind of be like in Star Wars if Luke Skywalker started off as the hero, but once we meet Han Solo (who like Logan, is the lovable, charming, bad boy-rogue character), the movie suddenly shifts to being from his point of view.

I suppose it could have been both? Some will relate to Rogue, others to Wolverine.

I remember feeling that way very much back when this came out. But I haven't felt that about this movie in years.

Frankly I never liked Rogue in these movies. She's nothing at all like the badass character from the 90s X-Men Cartoon. And I'm not talking just about the lack of Captain Marvel's powers.

It reminds me of what happened with The Big Boss. James Tien starts off as the star before Bruce Lee takes over halfway through.
