has a Cronenbergian body horror vibe to it...

Anyone else got that feel from it? I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this, really. X-Men not be the darkest or most violent superhero movie out there (I even think the first Spider-Man has more violence than this, to be honest) but out of all the ones I've seen, this is the film that dabbles the most in pure body horror.

Singer plays with this idea in any scene with Senator Kelly discovering his mutation. Those sequences were actually quite frightening to me as a child. In particular, I remember finding the scene of him being liquified in the lab especially freaky.

I'm not sure whether to label this a good or bad thing. I appreciate that it's different, as I doubt we'll be seeing anything like this in any upcoming Marvel movies. Though, when you take into consideration the muted colours, the low-key tone, and the lack of any big-scale action, it does make the film feel even less like X-Men.

I don't know, was I the only one who got this sorta vibe from watching it?
