Mind-Blowing Plot Hole....

Prof X cannot read Magnetos thoughts due to the Adamantium helmet he wears. This is a apparent and noted in every X Men movie featuring Magneto.

However.....

Prof X can read Wolverines thoughts, and helping him unlock his mind is a plot point In several movies. Coincidentally, Wolverine's skull is encased in Adamantium, the same material used to block Magneto's mind from Prof X.

Mind Blown

The helmet has circuitry wired into it that blocks Xavier's telepathic powers. Wolverine's skull does not. Also, when is it stated that Mags' helmet is made of Adamantium?

reply

Sorry. Not a plot hole.

In the kingdom of the blind, you're the village idiot.

reply

the helmet is definately not Adamantium, and is not even made from metal. (only covered by metal for asthetic purposes).
the material itself is more stone-like.

we know this because in "first class" Magneto was unable to move the helmet with his powers, meaning it was non-metallic.

in DOFP he could, but the helmet looked different, as if it's been covered by metallic paint which is why he could move it now.

reply

Only in your head. It is the same metal.

reply

Nowhere in any film does it say or imply that his helmet is made of adamantium.

reply

It's still metal. So his point stands.

1) It was suggested that the helmet wasn't originally metal since Magneto had to create a metallic "hand" out of wires to take the helmet off of Shaw instead of simply lifting it off his head. The metal, therefore, would be an add-on that Magneto put in there so that he could control it after it became his and thus would have nothing to do with the telepathic blocking capabilities of the helmet. Note the change in design from First Class when he wasn't shown to be able to use his powers on it to DOFP when he was.

2) Note also the Xavier-Wolverine exchange from this movie where Wolverine asks Xavier how Magneto knew how to create a helmet that could block his power and Xavier tells him that it was his work in helping to create Cerebro that allowed him to do so. Meaning, the concept was clearly that one needed special technical skills to build it as opposed to one just needing to strap on any old hunk of metal to their head.

3) Forgetting that, your idea that because the helmet is made up of a metal that blocks Xavier's power all metals would block Xavier's power is, to put it bluntly, moronic.

reply

What's moronic is every single one of your theories which never appeared on the film.

reply

The level of stupid is just baffling. Yet again you presented a theory which did not appear on film (that all metal can block Xavier's powers because Magneto's helmet is made of metal) and then rather than debate the merits of specific counter points (which btw have far more supporting evidence from the films than your nonsense does) you dismiss said counter points on the grounds that they are theories. This is how children and stupid people argue.

reply

The only stupid one in here is you who can't deal with this movie being incredibly badly written.

reply

I can point to numerous flaws in these movies. This is simply not one one them.

Here's an example of a legitimate flaw:

When Wolverine is introduced to Cerebro he asked Xavier why he doesn't use it to locate Magneto. Xavier said that he had been trying but Magneto seemed to have developed a way to shield himself.

Okay, but what about his henchmen? Xavier was the one who told Wolverine that the person who attacked him was an associate of Magneto's named Sabretooth. Thus, there's no reason he couldn't have located Magneto by tracking Sabretooth. Plus, he obviously had to have tracked Sabretooth to Wolverine and Rogue in order for Cyclops and Storm to be able to save them so why not keep tracking him when he returned to Magneto with his tail between his legs?

Now, some people have suggested that the lair was also shielded, which would explain why Magneto felt safe taking off his helmet there. However, that doesn't explain why Xavier couldn't have tracked Sabretooth from the Canadian wilderness to a location where he suddenly dropped off of Xavier's radar (if that's in fact how it was supposed to work). So there's no way to rationalize why Xavier couldn't locate Magneto and thus that is a legitimate flaw.

What you're spouting is pure nonsense, which you have made no attempt to back up in any rational way. Note that when I question your intelligence I then proceed to provide details supporting my position. In contrast, you just do the former and then end it there, which further demonstrates your limited capabilities. I can only hope you're rather young as this would be sad if you were an adult.

Holy SH!T! You ARE a retard.

Seriously. If he wanted to kill Shaw, why wouldn't he have just crushed the metal helmet on his head? He proved that Shaw could be killed by using slow force - why not slowly have the helmet grip his head and crush it? Or turn the edges towards Shaw's neck and slice it open.

-I thought it was already mentioned that Shaw's original helmet was not made of metal?

He proved that Shaw could be killed by using slow force - why not slowly have the helmet grip his head and crush it?
-Eric knew the helmet's capabilities and didn't want to crush the helmet because he wanted to wear it after? (It's easier to crush a soda can than it is to 'uncrush' it back to pristine shape.)

Or turn the edges towards Shaw's neck and slice it open.
-Eric thought it was more meaningful to kill Shaw by using Shaw's original intention against him (to make Eric move the coin)?

And what's with all the name-calling? I guess this was just a PG-13 movie...

Nice thinking, and it is mindblowing indeed.

No you're an idiot
