Hey watched the film on four last night i followed it up to when she came back up to the apartment and seen the bed, then started legging it. So can anyone explain what was up with the bed and why he chased her thanks!! sami xx

so if he loved her why did he run after her in such a way? Besides in the end on the roof it seemed that he had decided to kill her.

Actually I don't think there was blood on the bed at all, they never showed that in the movie, and he put plastic every time. He didn’t do it cause he’s very clean but so the cops couldn’t find it. I think that after he confessed everything he probably told her about how he did it, and when she saw him making the bed just as she stepped out… she understood what was going on and freaked out.

hm. i don't think so, but since you're so sure, do you have any proof? i don't mean to sound like an investigator but there is really no reason to think there was any blood on the bed. and if the blood was from his "cuts" she would have no reason to run away cause she would have been used to them.

Funny question! I "have proof", look at the last part of the movie! There are blood stains on that bed & they're veeery red. Which means they're fresh! & since they're fresh, they can't be from the women he had killed. Ergo they must be from his wounds (that don't heal). Now I've got no idea why that bed must appear stained, but it does. & she doesn't run because of the bed being blood-stained, but because she sees him preparing to put that foil over the bed, which means he wants to kill her & she knows it.

well that's what i'm saying, ok i didn't see any blood stains but lets say i wear glasses for a reason :) but she didn't run cause of the blood stains or whatever but because she saw him making the bed like he did for other victims.

But there's a weird part. He says : your blood tells me you love me.

How can he know if he has not tasted it ?

The blood on the bed DID come from his wound - evidently the one on his finger. If you see where the blood is placed on the bedsheet, it is on the right-side of the of the bed (facing the bed), on the edge of the bed where his hand would be if he has sleeping on his left side facing the outside of the bed. This took me two seconds to figure out after seeing the film once (and yes, rewinding it to see what the fuss was about) so I do not believe this was meant to be a big deal in the film.
Correctly stated - the plastic sheeting sheets below clean (we should assume) and, at least in the one killing we did see, there was no blood from the victim anywhere near that part of the bed - just at the head of the bed and down the center middle.
When Jude Law's character says what he says about all emotions being in the blood, that just shows he is nuts, insane, whatever you would like to call it - wacko works too. There are NO redeeming qualities in his character - he is a sick, twisted, disgusting, evil human being.
The "wisdom of crocodiles" is in their ability to cry and trick you into believing in the sorrow they feel, even as they are killing you and eating you. The reality is that crocodiles are just reptiles and reptiles don't cry at all.
Law's character shows how truly slimy he is (no pun intended) when he says that he feels no malice, even as he is trying to stop the girl froms jumping off of the roof so he can murder her.
An animal has no choice in its behavior, but a human does.
And after it all, it was just a movie!
Clearly the movie means to suggest that he is *some kind* of vampire, and not just some crazed human. Look at the way he easily dispatches the gang of thugs. So, he isn't just a "sick, twisted, evil human being". He is a vampire and I believe what he said, that if he feeds off someone who has bad emotions it is transferred to him, which is why he prefers someone who loves him. He does forget to breathe, which is why he has that device hooked up to him that beeps when he quits breathing. Also, remember the strange crystal rod he coughs up after he kills her, the one he puts with all the others he's coughed up in that velvet case? Those are the non-perfect emotions he was speaking of.
I think he was conflicted about killing Anne, but when she left to get the elastoplasts (Bandaids) he decided to go ahead and kill her, hence the plastic, silvery sheet he was lying down. THAT is what she saw that caused her to run, when she saw the plastic/rubber sheet he was putting down she knew what he had in mind. His feelings for her are true, because he saves her knowing that she is going to run away. Why else would he save her? He isn't going to be able to feed on her.
I'm not sure why he didn't kill her earlier, perhaps because he wanted her to return to him, even after she knew what he was and what he planned, and that would mean she truly loved him and it would make her blood all that more satisfying... who knows.
Reptiles do "cry", in fact crocodiles "cry" when they eat. It is an involuntary emission of watery fluid from the tear ducts.

But remember the crystals of emotion that he removed from people in his line of work? I think in this vampire mythology, there's something special about that for Jude Law's character. So, when he talks about the fact that even though at that moment she is running scared from him, her love for him is still crystallized in her blood.

It really was quite unclear, in that sense. But otherwise, I believe he was trying to fool her into giving herself up willingly, but he slipped up, she caught on, and he had to try it forcefully. He was evil all along.

i just watched the movie, the blood stains were rather large, so yes, there are blood stains on the bed.
they were also close to where the head would be, i presumed it was left over blood from his prior victims, but it could also have been his own.
It was in the movie. Yes, he was very clean, but it was a quick shot right before she came upstairs and yes it was there.
2 things, I thought.
1. HE was preparing the bed for HIM to die in, because she would have to get rid of HIS body because he wouldn't want it found, and he was going to bleed out sooner or later. She was doing an awfully lot for him, but she wasn't giving up any of her blood or offering. He ended up being the one disappointed.

2. He was going to kill her. Perhaps he had been priming her to be disappointed in him when she died- that he didn't love her, trust her, that he was just going to darn kill her. HE couldn't let her kill herself, because then he'd not be able to get that.
Either way, he was putting the plastic on the bed for someone to die, and he had a look of firm resolve. He looked curiously a lot better when he was getting those plastic sheets on the bed, and rather mean.

My impression was more the latter (2), but I suppose that's a point, it could also have been for him, that he was going to die. But the way he chases after her, I'm more or less confident it was the latter. I still have it rented, so perhaps I'll take another look if that's still my impression... But, yes, he's suddenly curiously better...

I saw it a few weeks ago. I remember what scene your talking about because i was confused too. He was actually spreading new sheets on the bed which scared the woman because that was a sign he was going to kill again...kill her.
