What were the 'screws'?

Watched the movie last night. Grlscz had a box with metal pieces (like screws) in it. They were labelled (names of the killed women). What were the "screws"?

If you saw the whole movie, you know about as much as I do, but in case you didn't; they were sort of kidney stones (he passed one near the beginning), there were theories of how emotions travel in the system (he needed "love" through blood), and how these stones are supposed to be manifestations of this. Or something.

En yhdistänyt niitä palasia munuaiskiviin kun ne oli kaikki keskenään saman näköisiä. Mutta onhan se juonen kannalta ihan looginen päätelmä.

Didn´t realise they were some sort of kidney stones. Mainly because they all looked the same. It does make sence though.

So Grlscz drank blood and developed different kinds of stones (depending on who the victim was).

I think the crystal 'screws' were meant to represent negative emotions tainting the blood of Steven's victims (thus connecting them to despair, disappointment etc.) like he tells Anne later on in the film, when he tells her he doesn't only get the love when he drinks blood, but all emotions. Another hint at this would be the scene in the hospital, when (after helping the little girl) he shows Anne the assortment of crystals and tells her how they are created by all kinds of negative feelings.

You're right. I didn't really take notice if all the emotions he mentioned while giving the 'stone speach were negative, but that does make sense. Thanks for the insight!

It's also possible that all emotions consumed by him produce that kind of crystals, not only the negative ones. My theory is that with Anne he tried to taste a positive emotion, to trick her into giving up her life freely.
