I prefer this over the Men in Black sequels

At least this didn't seem like a total cashin. In making The Addams Family (1991), a well regarded version of the 1960s TV show, Barry Sonnenfeld attached himself to a gothic, Heath Robinson, extravaganza version of an American 1960s TV show. In Wild Wild West, he did exactly the same. The difference is that, internationally , Wild Wild West's TV series was not anywhere as near a household name. Dr Loveless is so over the top that at least one of the agents needed to be energetic and positive. Instead, very incongruously, Smith is playing a part that is presumably supposed to be as dry as James Bond's martini. But so does Klein thus making Loveless seem like overkill. Selma Hayek is too cold a fish to be worth their time. Plus the sets (including the train) are very nice but not really used in interesting ways until too late in the film. But the film's been profitable, hasn't it? And is way more stylish than many films.

I've always said that WWW had all the pieces for a fun popcorn movie, but they just couldn't fit them together. The premise of James Bond in the old west is a good one, loaded with possibilities. The tv series was way before my time and I can't speak for the fans, but personally I didn't mind Will Smith as Jim West.

On the contrary I thought Kevin Kline was really miscast. If they wanted Gordon as the 'funny one', they should've cast an actor younger viewers were more familiar with, someone known for comedy.

Salma Hayek was wasted. She was given nothing to do except be kidnapped and rescued over and over again. When i think of her in this movie all i can think of are scenes of her sitting around doing nothing. You have one of the sexiest women alive in your movie for crying out loud! They could've made the part a bit more Bond girlish.

I got bored with the train. I know it's a staple of the show, but they couldve used it better here.

Those are just some of my criticisms.
