How did the metal head guy get electricuted fighting Jim West?

I read another post on here about the same topic but I didn't see any real answer. So wanted to bring it up again. Towards the end while on the spider Jim West fights these guys, one of them appeared to be made out of metal or iron or whatever. Jim West hits him with a big wrench a few times, then he hands the guy the wrench, the metal head guy holds the wrench in the air and then yells, sparks fly from what I assume is from some sort of electrocution, and then he falls off the spider.

The previous post mentions there are some wires overhead and he touched them with the wrench and that fried him, but I watched that scene several times and there are no wires above him. Someone mentioned maybe hitting the metal head guy several times made him short circuit when he took the wrench, but I believe he was wearing gloves, outside of that the wrench doesn't touch the guy at all.

So what could it have been? It seem Jim West knew someone was going to happen, otherwise why hand him the wrench to bash Jim West with? Jim West also immediately stepped to the side, like he knew this was going to happen. So any further explanations on this?

I thought since the dude was more or less a robot that he didn't get electrocuted, but system fried out.

The wrench obviously want doing anything, I think will Smith giving it back was just some comic relief. Kind of like "oh *beep* my bad heres your thing back". I wouldn't read to much into it there's plenty of flaws but it was made for fun not to be serious.

Just watched it the other night on tv.

I always wondered that too, you're right, he probably malfunctioned, he exerted too much energy.

This sequence is just symptomatic of the whole film IMO.

This big, dumb, robot Frankenstein guy comes conveniently out of nowhere, hands West his ass, while Gordon does absolutely nothing apart from occasionally watching, but then totally anti-climactically just malfunctions and we all have to try to guess what happened.

This is why the film failed big time.🐭

It looked to me as if he was standing between the copper coils of a big electromagnet. West handed Tinman the wrench and it closed the contact between the copper coils and directed the charge through the wrench and Tinman.

I am currently watching this movie and wanted to get an answer about what happened to him as well. I think maybe Will Smith hit metal head fella a bunch of times and he either "short circuited" like a robot or the wrench actually had a part in electrocuting him. I'm wondering if there may have been an more clear explanation but perhaps it was left out when the film was edited.

It wasn't explained outright, but the guy operated on the same principles as the Magnetic Collars.

They said that if you hit the collar with enough force it would reverse the polarity. Will hit the guy enough times that he messed up his own electric flow, and this caused him to short out.
