Today's 'best twist ending' poll...

I voted for "Wild Things", but really, the ending wasn't as much a twist as was the whole film. In that regard (and for its numerous plot twists), I give this flick my vote.

And yes, "Usual Suspects" and "Sixth Sense" also had great twist endings.

Thoughts, if any? What films can you think of that have as many spectacular plot twists as "Wild Things"?

Peter: Hahahaha! You said, "nuclear". It's "nucular", dummy! The 's' is silent.

reply

I voted for Wild Things too.

Although I think Fight Club is still the best twist, I think that this film had more twists than anything I've seen. Every time I watch it, I just wait for M. Night Shyamalan to pop in and say "What a twist!"

Then again, thanks to Robot Chicken, I expect that in every movie with a twist.

Loved the ending in "The Skeleton Key."

Don't forget the endings for Cry-Wolf and A beautiful mind! Those were awesome!

Frailty is probably my favorite....then fight club, seven, the game, usual suspects, saw (only the first one) arlington road, sixth sense....

reply

I've never seen it, but I've read that Cry_Wolf has the exact same ending as April Fool's Day.

Hands down Memento and Fight club

Primal Fear

reply

I would have to say Halloween 4.

reply

You have to go back to almost the beginning of movies - to the silent era.
"Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" has what might be the original twist. Still packs
punch but I would recommend the recent remake by David Lee Fisher. Circa 2007.
A superb remake I can't recommend highly enough. Just watch it.

Happy Halloween!

THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you for mentioning Primal Fear barfly LOL. AWESOME TWIST!

Saw, Saw 2 (he is in the 'safe' place), Fight Club, Primal Fear (is a MUST!), The Usual Suspects, oh YES! The Sting!!! With Paul Newman and Robert Redford, one of the best twists! never saw it coming lol. The Sixth Sense yes I agree...never saw Wild Things, cuz the DVD don't provide English subtitles as I'm deaf :( always wanted to see it for a long time.

I read through this whole thread looking for "The Uninvited".

That movie has to be one of the most underrated thrillers of the past several years.

It totally flopped at the box office....and I barely even wanted to rent it but was absolutely *shocked* at the end. The Sixth Sense was the first movie to ever do that to me......and not many movies do.

Hell, The Uninvited is a remake of Korean horror called A Tale of Two Sisters. A much, much, better film witu better twist.

Anyway mine would be the first Saw, Fight Club, Se7en, Psycho, The Sixth Sense, and suprised no one haven't mention it, The Mist!

'Last night I saw a face.'
'Did it have a nose?'
'Yeah.'
'That does sound like a face.'

reply

OMG, the Mist traumatized me!!!

I still get numb and sick feeling thinking about that ending.

Whatever happened to Mary?

You want endless twists? Check out another Matt Damon flick, Employee Of The Month (2004).

For those of you who said Fight Club and Identity, I saw them both coming a mile away. Same with Sixth Sense, but a reviewer on radio ruined that one for me.

Great twists: Saw, Nighthawks, Psycho, Arlington Road, No Way Out, Friday The 13th, The Game, The Machinist, The Usual Suspects, The Eyes Of Laura Mars, 5 Card Stud, Maverick, Damien: Omen II, Goodbye Lover, The Maltese Falcon, and one that just blew my mind, Dracula 2000.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

reply

a history of violence and wild things!

the uninvited had a good twist also.

Yes I remember that one.

As stagebandman said, another Matt Dillon flick, Employee of the Month (not that piece of fluff with the same title starring Jessica Simpson).
Not only some GREAT! plot twists at the end, you have to watch the credits to see the last totally unexpected one.
I always watch the credits.

reply

'The Game' 1997 starring Michael Douglas. That was so unexpected.

'Diabolique' 1996 Great movie. But the twist just makes you go ugh ???
