A 6.5?
How could this only have a 6.5? it deserves higher!

shareI think it's just about right. It's kind of got that "not so great of a movie" vibe but it's actually a pretty damn good movie. So a 6.5 feels right.

The rating is pretty accurate . The first hour is really good . But the second half of the movie becomes confusing and/or convoluted .
Would very much agree with you. I think the lowish ratings reflect people's apprehension towards the general subject matter of an adult teacher sleeping with a child student (despite Denise being 27 at the time). There's the fear that to identify yourself as liking this film that then ignorant people may somehow identify you with liking pedophilia. Regardless of how erroneous their assumptions might be, in this day and age it's a very dangerous thing to be associated with.
Also most people want easily digestible plots with a clear message of right and wrong, and an obvious divider between the good and evil forces - which this film would fail to deliver.

First of all, the characters were 18, seniors in high school. Doesn't make it right but it ain't kiddie rape. Pedophilia is sexual attraction to PRE-pubescent children. There is nothing unnatural about an adult man being attracted to a post-pubescent teenage girl, they have women's bodies. However, it is wrong to act on the attraction because common law in most places makes it illegal to engage with anyone under a certain age, that age being 18 in most places. In the US it varies between ages 16 - 18 depending on which state you are in.
