Since i'm not american, some questions...(spoilers)

1- Shouldn't both girls be prosecuted for perjury??? How did they simply got away after lying on court?

2- Was the "bad acting" purposeful? The characters were just not believable at all, mainly the female ones. Like when they're fighting in the pool and, seconds later, they're making out (?!?). Or the female detective, easily falling for Dillon's character....

I felt like i was missing the joke...

1) yes, both girls should be prosecuted for perjury. However...
A) This process takes a long time just to start prosecution
B) Kelly's mother is extremely rich and has a lot of influence. That's why Lombardo cannot find a lawyer willing to defend him. Most likely the police decided just to give her a warning and a fine (she also has hotshot lawyer tom Baxter on her case working to keep her out of jail)

2) It is an erotic thriller. Plot is strictly secondary. there's no deliberate joke per se, it's just the way the movie pans out. The movie knows it is trashy and it doesn't care. It is what roger ebert called a popcorn movie - cheap and cheerful

1 - prosecutorial discretion or, perhaps, the wheels of justice were just turning slowly. I’m sure the settlement that Sam received required him to waive any claims against Kelly or her mother. Upon seeing this, the prosecutor possibly felt that the wronged party had been made whole and the state’s interests wouldn’t be served by prosecuting the girls. However, Kelly’s lawyer did say that it would be challenging just to keep her out of jail. Presumably he hoped to get her off with a fine and community service given that she was a minor.

2 - I don’t think the bad acting was intentional.
