One of the most emotional movies of all time

I'm totally confused by all the negative comments here. This is an incredible movie.

Agreed

It's interesting, but emotionally hollow. One just doesn't feel anything for the central characters- the movie asks too much of the viewer. Too much death too quick. And the leads don't have much chemistry.

one question. an important one. has anyone you loved died suddenly? and not your grandparents.

reply

Yes. My brother's fiancée. Was I supposed to answer no, which would explain why I was unaffected by this movie?

i watch this movie every 4 years or so and still end up in floods of tears.

it's a dirty world Reich, say what you want

I disagree. All the emotion fell flat for me.

I think it was partially the fault of the soundtrack, which didn't seem to vary much. To me, it sounded like it had a triumphant quality throughout, even during times of depression (i.e. most of the film).

For example, in a scene when Robin Williams falls through a pit in "hell", the soundtrack lifts up almost like it's saying "yaaaay I'm flying!!"

I do want to point out however that I have not lost anybody close to me, I have no religion and do not believe in any kind of spiritual afterlife. If none of that was true then perhaps I would be more affected.

This movie has got to be on the list of my top ten favorite movies of all time.
