Different ending versions on DVD (spoiler)

Ok, I saw this movie on television and I remember vividly a scene in which De Niro enters Hoffmans house sometime after his supposed death. Hoffman admits he fakes his death in an effort preserve his work. But I just watched it on DVD and the scene is not there. Does anyone have an explanation? Am I going crazy?
