Why doesn't Valerie Lemercier play the part of Frenegonde anymore??
I always thought she was just perfect in the first movie, so I was taken aback when I saw that her part was played by (a not so funny imho) another actress.
They even re-filmed the scenes - originally with Lemercier - which I wasn't very fond of :(
So, anyone knows anything?
No idea. However, she has a cameo in the movie.
shareShe simply didn't want to play that part again, probably because she thought that the script wasn't as good as the first one. So basically the producers decided to replace her by Muriel Robin, who is a very good stand-up comedian, but she's not an actress, and I think it shows...

shareValérie Lemercier isn't in the sequel. She doesn't have any cameo in it. The actress who plays the part of the mother doesn't even look remotely like her. The trivia is wrong.
When the movie was released, there were a few suppositions in the French press. She had found the script poor (which is something I won't contend) and she was then dating Alain Terzian, who had produced the first movie and who had nothing to do with the sequel (he was sidelined from the sequel by Clavier and director Poiré due to money concerns) apart from his name in the credits.
i rewatched the film yesterday and i guess you're referring to the mother who asks the 'gendarmes' to help her with her son. certainly, that actress resembles and acts like valérie lemercier, but she is not valérie.
