All I have to say is that she was amazing!! She was deffinitly a great choice for the character. Probablly because she matched the age they needed, she could do the sexuality they needed for the character of Tamora, she has great chemistry with the other actors espically with alan cummings (for thoes of us who have seen the movie we know some of their little sences together), she can also act in peirod, she can bring the sexuallity and the power together. I have the movie and it is probablly my favorite shakespear movie (i own alot of others) but this is my favorite.

Just a question does anyone think that Sigourney Weaver could have done this part also???

I agree, Jessica and Alan were a perfect pair. He was a temper-tantrum throwing man-child and she was like a mother to him. Although, she was just taking advantage of him the whole time. <3

It's true that she had great chemistry with everyone, including the Emperor and Aaron. Aaron was cool, and I felt that in some way they really were enfatuated with each other. And as someone else said, she was such a mother to the hilarious brat Saturninus (probably spelled incorrectly). She was a neat match for Anthony Hopkins. I agree with the first poster - she was old enough to be commanding, yet still was sexy. I felt for her through the entire thing - even though it was a bit harsh for her to let Lavinia be raped. She was wonderful while pleading for her son's life, showing mixed feelings at Lavinia's pleas, controlling and seducing the emperor, and hating Titus.

I agree that Jessica Lange did a stellar job. I just found it a little unbelievable that she was participating in the orgy scene only a few hours after giving birth to Aaron's child. Those Goth ladies are tough.

She really is incredibly beautiful, and very strong yet...I don't know. She is just amazing.
I can't really see Sigourney Weaver in this role though, but maybe that's just because I can't see anybody but Jessica Lange.

Not only did she look fantastic, but she was one of my favorite performances in the entire movie.
Just saw this movie, and it rocked! I love Julie Taymor's style.
