What character is this?

At the beginning of the assault on the Japanese bunker led by Captain Gaff, 1 of the soldiers is shot by a machine gun. The rest decide he's too badly hit to move and Bell suggests getting him later "if he's still alive." Nothing else in the movie discusses his fate. Does anyone know which character it is? Thanks.
