Am I the only one who noticed that the Marines are carrying M1 Garands? not issued to marines during this battle.

reply

Unless you're a history or military buff, I don't think most people would notice things such as that.

They were Army not Marines. Remember that famous pic of a soldier on Guadalcanal posing with his rifle while on one knee. He has a Garand and he is Army not a Marine.

Shots of Marines being removed from the front lines. Cut to a low angle of Private Witt as he walks among the wounded. As he looks around at the scene, we hear his voice-over: “Maybe all men got one big soul, and everybody’s a part of it—all faces of the same man, one big self.” From his POV we see a medic attending to a soldier on a stretcher, and then the blood being washed from a stretcher in a small stream. Then Private Witt attends to a Marine at the side of the stream. He looks across at two medics helping another Marine. His voice-over: “Everyone looking for salvation for himself. As he rubs water through the man’s hair, his voice-over: “—each like a coal drawing from the fire.” Cut to a close shot of the stream.

What made you think he was attending to Marines?

The Marines assaulted the island. The Army relieved them. Please read "Guadalcanal Diary" Also, see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035957/ My grandfather, Lance Corporal Keller,USMC, was in the initial assault. We talked about his experiences often. Grandpa carried the 03 Springfield, as did 99% of the the Marines.
Please don't comment about that which you do not know.

I knew that as does anyone who read on the battle. I even gave you contemporary evidence and you acted like some school kid. You want a film 60 years later to be 100% perfect. You some kind of immature idiot?
