False advertising on DVD-cover?

I bought the box set with all three From Dusk Till Dawn-movies. On the cover of FDTD 2 - TBM it says in Danish:

"På Titty Twister Bar mødes fem hard-core forbrydere med Seth og Richie Gecko for at få tegningerne over en mexicansk bank..."

Translated into English:

"At the Titty Twister Bar five hardcore criminals meet up with Seth and Richie Gecko to get the blueprints over a Mexican bank..."

As everyone who has seen the movie knows, we never see the Gecko Bros. in this movie.

It goes on: "Here [at the bank] FBI-agent Chase awaits them".

First, there is no agent Chase in this movie. Second, they are not being awaited; the police shows up only later.

And it goes further on: "This horrific continuing of the blockbuster From Dusk Till Dawn, written by Quentin Tarantino, is at least as scary, bloody and raw as the first movie. As the gang leader, Buck, we see Robert Patrick (Die Hard, The Faculty)."

Robert Patrick was never in Die Hard.

At least three false pieces of information on the cover, the Gecko Brothers being in the movie being the most serious of them.

Is it approx. the same text on the non-Danish DVD-covers, and, if yes, how did you react?

rob patrick was in die hard 2
but ya, seems like false info

On the cover of my DVD it says Robert Patrick and Bruce Cambell next to each other. Bruce Cambell was in the movie for like 1 minute in the beginning and that had nothing to do with the rest of the movie.

The back cover says that he is one of the five vampire bank robbers and also that Tiffany Amber Thiessen has the role of the vampire queen. Eh, she's in the movie as much as Cambell and she never turns into a vampire.

I have the boxed swedish boxed set with all three movies.

Runtime according to IMDB: 88 min / Argentina:110 min

My DVD says 85 min and here in Sweden the end credits are included into the runtime.

The movie box apparently invisioned a much better film.

"Envisioned", but yeah. Also, I would say go get your money back, but the thought that you actually bought the set is too funny still to comprehend.

I recall Robert Patrick in the first 'Die Hard' as one of
Hans Gruber's terrorists though I don't remember him
being in 'Die Hard 2.'

Yeah, the information on satellite gives Bruce top billing. When he died I waited the whole movie out wondering "When does VAMPIRE Bruce show up?"

I am a moron...

reply

Me too!
Even when the end credits came on I was waiting..
Like Vamp-Bruce would show up as a bonus scene after credits...
If he had... this movie would've been gazillion times better!
I guess I have to wait for Bubba Nosferatu to see Bruce kick vampire ass...

I'm sorry to tell you this but Bruce Campbell is not going to be in Bubba Nosferatu. I hated ever having to write that but it's true. :(

Lots of films do that when brought to another country. Plenty of distributors will bring Hong Kong action films and Japaneses animes to the states and do the same type of stuff. The ideas about Seth and Richie having the plans I think comes from some early internet rumors about this film, rumors that started with Tarantino's early ideas for this film's script.

I agree with every point you've made except for one; Robert Patrick
was in 'Die Hard' as one of Hans Gruber's terrorists! He had a
non-speaking role, if you watch closely you'll notice him in
several scenes.

Robert Patrick is not in the original "Die Hard". He's only in the second film as O'Reilly, the leader of the group that's disguised as the work crew blocking the walkway to where the Annex Skywalk is, which is where the new transmitter can be used to contact the planes and redirect them elsewhere. Look under his credts in his bio.

Actually, that synopsis is very similar to the "rumours" after "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released on the internet. Everyone was reporting that this was the direction a theatrical sequel would take - Seth, Ritchie and "their gang" and yeah, Agent Chase. But it changed near to the release to a more accurate report of the two sequels.

there are quite a few dvds that just change the plot out of the blue.

the dvd of Intruder (1989) is hilarious to read after watching the movie because the whole plot is different.

the sypnopis of Terror Toons (aka one of the worst movies ever) gets the 2 main characters names switched around!

and there are others but i cant think of them right now.

The thing I wonder about is if they wanted to list notable movies Robert Patrick had been in up to that point, why not T2? That's the first movie that comes to my mind when I see him or hear his name mentioned.

Cameron: I call 9 mm.

The box art for Intruder has always cracked me up. First of all, it gives away a vital part of the movie, who the villain is. I mean, it's right on the cover. Also, the box art gives you the impression that the guy is some sort of a monster. No monster is in that movie. I did actually really like that film though. It's pretty brutal if you see the uncut version.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

Don't forget the fact that they promised us Tiffani as a sexy vampire on the back-cover too!!

Whoever wrote that, never ever saw the movie.
