WHAT WAS SO BAD???

I don't understand why everyone hates this movie so much. I thought it was actually quite good when you think about the thriller and suspense in it. Can someone please tell me what was wrong with this movie?

reply

hmm, lets see, Rodriguez did not write or direct, none of the original cast had even the tiniest of cameos, Bruce Campbell was billed, but died quickly, and, uh....oh yeah! the Titty Twister was back, that thing got destroyed in the first one

Alright vampire killers...let's kill some f-cking vampires!

I gotta agree,I think this film is slated unfairly. The first film was fantastic and any sequel to a good movie has a lot to live up to and clearly this film didnt hit the mark..but it was still good! Beats Devils Rejects hands down.

reply

this film was rediculous on all levels...QT and RR didnt make it...the original characters wernt in it...and it had nothing to do with the titty twister...the titty twister seemed smaller...this movie just flat out sucks gigantic balls

reply

The most horrible, forced camera shots that pretty much break the 4th wall and remind you that you're watching a bad movie.

Horrible acting.

Horrible lighting.

Horrible special effects.

The bat in the shower scene.

Do I really have to make a list? It's garbage.

Quentin Tarantino wrote From Dusk Till Dawn not Rodriguez.

I have only seen it once, but I barely remember.

Danny Trejo is in it. He's in all three of them.

reply

Quentin Tarantino wrote the one page rewrite for this script the idea was not his i think. But he basically did revamp it all

Hehe, re'vamp' eh...

reply

Captain Quint of the Orca, all the reasons that you say this was so bad just have to do with who's in it and who directed it, etcetra. I think it had a good story, good suspense, and good thriller qualities. Why doesn't anyone else agree?

reply

i liked this movie,'cause of the vampires..
however there were too meaningless "subjectctives" of the camera.
the plot was not bad, really ironic (i.e. when the solar eclipse comes..)

reply

I think people hate it because of the "unique" camera angles. But that's Scott Spiegel's style. :)

reply

jackssmirkingrevenge13.....those where the dumbest reasons ever to hate a movie....no where in your post did you give a valid reason.....so what rodregaz didn't dirrect t or anything.....it was still good.....the whole campbell thing is stupid yes but it doesnt affect the movie unless thats your main reason to see it (which it was one of mine because I thought he was the star but whatever) And the titty twister being back has been discussed over and over again...it could be in the past.....they could have rebuilt it....could be 2 titty twisters....you never know......so either stop trying to sound smart and think of a valid reason or just shut up.

"Rodriguez did not write or direct"? How is that an argument for whether or not the film is good? He didn't write or direct the Lion King either. Maybe he could have done better than Scott Spiegel, maybe not, but now you just sound like a kid who hates Casino Royale for not featuring any gadgets. Whether or not the previous cast was in or not also has no saying in whether or not a sequel is good, although I won't argue with the fact that the cast in FDTD2:TBM sucks (still, I've got a thing for Robert Patrick, but that's beside the point).

reply

Okay one, Danny Trejo was in this movie, so yes, one of the original cast was in it, second the Titty Twister is in here because just like the third one, it's a prequel. I really doubt you watched the movie.

GetITpapi is a dumbass.

reply

Okay, I forgot about Trejo...but when was this established as a prequel?

I may've missed some bit of dialogue that established that bit, but I have indeed seen the movie. Not for nine years now, but I've seen it

reply

Hail Eris!

No, it's a proper sequel. If you listen closely to Sheriff Otis, he mentions Ranger McGraw from the first movie (the one who got killed in the general store/gas station). Since this is the first occasion, in this particular cinematic universe, in which a cop both sees vampires *and* survives the experience, the series might well build on that, though not necessarily with great success for US government agents.

Snarky
A copy of the universe is not what is required of art; one of the damned things is ample.

I have never read anywhere that this was a prequel, Titty Twister...which is the top of an Aztec temple... was damaged but not destroyed.

The 3rd one was a prequel and a kind of remake with a lot of similarities to the original. Its just set 100 years or so ago.

I think the problem is just trying to compare it to the 1st one, that was kinda unique and if you didn't know the story before you saw it, it had a big twist/surprise in it. So no surprises in this one and not many known people in it either plus fans of the original wanted more of a connection to it, plus some of the original actors.

Liane Coyler is gorgeous in this, shame its the only movie she's done. :)

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) 6/10
From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) 4/10
From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter (1999) 5/10
From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series (2014) Not seen any of it yet but the girl in the poster looks hot. ;)

reply

Not related to the topic in anyway but, you have a terrifying profile picture
Also you seem to have rated half of the things I've rated 10/10

reply

The Titty Twister did NOT get destroyed in the first film. Sunlight came in through bullet holes and caused some of the vampires inside to explode but the building was left standing and could have been easily remodeled but it wasn't even close to having been destroyed.

Rodriguez did not write or direct
so?

none of the original cast had even the tiniest of cameos
Yeah that bit did suck even though Danny Trejo was in it.

Bruce Campbell was billed, but died quickly
Probably for the best, he will always be Ash from Evil Dead to me, he's kinda forgettable in his other stuff although i kinda remember him as Autolycus in Xema and Hercules. :)

oh yeah! the Titty Twister was back, that thing got destroyed in the first one
No it wasn't.

reply

NO QUENTIN TARANTINO OR ROBERT RODRIGUEZ!

Plus, the elevator scene involing the bats chewing on the lawyers was disturbing. I still get the chills thinking about it.

reply

But still it deserves atleast a 5+ rating. 3.5 rating. Come on it's not that bad.

"Plus, the elevator scene involing the bats chewing on the lawyers was disturbing. I still get the chills thinking about it"

Isn't that the point of a horror movie?

reply

I give this movie about 6 out of 10. I've seen lots worse than this, it's not a top quality flick or anything but it was somewhat enjoyable. The only thing that pissed me off was that some idiot wrote it all wrong on the movie cover, it said that Bruce Campbell had the lead role as the leader thief, but all he had was a little part in a movie inside the movie. It's stupid.

reply

Oh, yeah, Bruce had too little part, but it was quite funny:-). I dunno why exactly, but I really liked this movie. I didn't expect much and I was positively surprised.

Of course, it's a B-movie as hell, but who cares. It made me laugh, it made me scared, the plot was...well...not that smart, so I think the movie couldn't be better!

And the chapter itself is my GOOOOOOOD Robert Patrick(I luv u, I luv u, I luv u)!!! Ehee...sorry for beeing childish, but I can't help myself:-))). He has sooo many really badbadbad movies, so maybe I was too happy to see him in something wasn't that dummy, that I'm not being objective now. But, well... who cares?

8 out of 10. (7 stars for Robert and Bruce and 1 for...uhmmm...the rest of the movie that I don't remember;-)).

reply

I think it was good too, and according some of the arguments in this thread it was only giving poor ratings becasue of the cast and the director? What the hell?

reply

Complaining about the cast is valid when the one that is in the movie does as bad of a job as this one does. Bruce is Bruce not a fan of him but he does what he does well and Patrick did the best he could with the script and bad effects and bad actors around him. Other than that though I can't think of any other reason to even watch this movie. Though I never liked the original either.

reply

THIS MOVIE WAS NOT HAPPENING AFTER THE FIRST ONE. IT WAS HAPPENING SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE FIRST. THAT'S WHY THE SHOW YOU THE GECKO BROTHERS ARE STILL ALIVE. THE TWISTER HAS NOT BEEN BLOWN UP YET AND EDDIE HAS NOT DIED YET AT THIS STAGE!

reply

The things that killed this movie:

-A timeline is never made clear.
-Instead of just beating the crap out of the cops they fire guns at them for 5 minutes.
-When Luther bites C.W., Buck comes in and there is no blood on the floor or anything.
-Bitten people turn into vampires way too quickly.
-The Titty Twister is only in the movie once and absolutely nothing happens there.
-Too many bat attacks, and they are very fake and stupid.

Some parts were coolm, though, such as their talk about *beep* films and when Jesus is talking about his friend whose sister was acting in porn. The rest blows.

"Actually, when Peter blows his horn, I shall be playing the tuba."
-Ambrose Bierce

reply

Don't forget about the ridiculous eclipse.

Sun's coming up, vampires are dead now... but we still have 20 minutes to go... RANDOM ECLIPSE! Random eclipse that comes and goes in 10 seconds, but stays covering the sun for about 15 minutes.

reply

The eclipse isn't random. There was a news report on television about an upcoming eclipse when Robert Patrick's character was watching television with a girl early in the film before he saw the news report about Luther's escape.

if this film was happening simultaneously than why does the titty twister look completely different to the titty twister in the first film?

-right turn clyde

reply

I agree, the movie es good but lives you with a somehow feeling that it isn't but you dont know why. I love the original and raw dialoges, the incredible ideas and screenplay.

By the way, where can I find the songs played in the movie? I like particularly the one when Jesus and the gang went to pick up the last guy in the black car.

reply

Most of the tunes in the movie were some of the well known surf-rock guitar classics by Dick Dale. The one you are refering to is "The Wedge".

reply

I agree! I gave this movie a ten and I like it a bit more than the first one. Let's complain at number three for being so crappy! That one sucked.

reply

[deleted]

I didn't like this movie because it goes nowhere, the setup leaves a lot to be desired, the vampires kills just seem generic, and well the plot all in all just felt lacking. It's not for lack of trying, they really attempted to make this as stylistic as the first but they just failed in my eyes.

reply

What was so bad? It is absolute toss in my opinion - end of
Bad TV movie
Normally I can watch anything no matter how crap and still watch up to the end, I can't leave a film part way through - but this I turned off after trying for 30 minutes it was so bad!
Do love Danny Trejo though - he is a legend!

You didn't think it was going to be that easy did you?

reply

It wasn't bad for a B-movie, actually it was quite enjoyable.

"It is absolute toss in my opinion.....this I turned off after trying for 30 minutes it was so bad! "

If you only watched 30 minutes you have no idea how bad or good the movie turned out to be. Your opinion only counts for the first thirty minutes.

reply

i loved it!
i tought it was better then the first!

SO hilarious!

very big "watchability"

reply

I bought the dvd last weekend and now I've watched it about 4 times. I think its great. Its different to the first one and the effects are a bit deliberately cheesy but its still a very enjoyable B movie.
It also the best heist movie I've seen in a long time with some great sleasy B movie characters. Far better than the characters in the Oceans films for example imho.
Get it on Dvd and watch it with an open mind, if you like exploitation horror b movies you'll probably like it.
Go Jaws Go!!!! Goood Boyyyyy!!!!

reply

It's a little underrated, gave it 5/10. But its a pretty bad movie, even part 3 did a little better, says enough... most of the time it gets worse after part II.
