Forget the acting, the low rent production values and the bad special f/x, "Tarzan and the Lost City" commits the one unforgivable action/adventure movie sin; It's boring.
The script is so bad, so amateur, that the film never has a chance. The premise is set up early in the first act and then our characters are given nothing to do but swing from one unrelated and unnecessary scene to the next for the better part of an hour before finally getting on with the plot. Director Carl Schenkel seems to alternate between trying to inject some energy into the movie and helplessly shrugging at the futility of it all.
The one positive I'll grant is that the cast is quite game. Van Dien and March aren't good actors but I was really impressed with their efforts. If they knew they were making a turkey it doesn't show. The rest of the cast also give a commendable effort.
I hate to say it but there's just not enough here to recommend "Tarzan and the Lost City", even as a rainy day time-waster.
