It bugged the hell out of me that he just kept blasting away every time he used it when he should have only had two bullets before needing to reload. Anyone else?

We didn't see Clayton every moment, so maybe he reloaded then. But I do see what you mean.
More confusing to me is wondering where Sabor the Leopard was for approx 20 years or so.
He kills the baby gorilla and Tarzan's parents one minute and then nothing until Tarzan becomes a young man.
Seems like everyone I know ends up becoming somebody I used to know.
But you're okay with a person conversing with gorillas and elephants.
