Underrated

Tarzan is one of Disney's finest. It's a visual masterpiece, the music is phenomenal and the story can really pull at the heartstrings. Tarzan saying goodbye to Kala is one of the ultimate emotional Disney moments, as is Kerchak's death. In terms of cinematic quality, it's not far behind Lion King in my opinion, and is as good as some Pixar films. 7.0/10 is a joke! I give it a 10. I saw it in the cinema as a 4 year old and loved it, and I still love it 14 years later. It's a beautiful film

Disneys Tarzan was the first film I saw in cinema, & instantly became a favourite of mine growing up, I was a year younger than you when I watched it. I agree it has by far some of the best animation in any Disney film, I love the soundtrack & Phil colins created some of the best disneys songs. This film is definitely underrated compared to other Disney classic that get more attention

reply

I agree. This is a great movie. Wish it got more recognition nowadays like it did when it first came out.

I'm in full agreement with the OP. There is hardly any aspect of the movie which is not brimming to perfection. The forest artworks, the music, the voice acting, the story and the synchrony of it all - gives me goosebumps every time I watch this film.

As for Lion King, yes it's unrivaled, but for me, Tarzan outshines it. I can't allot positions to Disney films - they are all the same wonderful things to me. There just a select few which, just somehow, REALLY tug at you. I found Tarzan to be so mature and, at the same time, so child-like. It's a beautiful film and a 11/10 in my books. Speaking on an unbiased basis, it still deserves a rating higher than 7. You don't find stuff like this anymore.

I couldn't agree more.

I do think the movie is too short though. If it had been a bit longer and more developed, it could've been Disney's VERY best.
