"That's what Fran Tarkenton thought?"

OK, I just don't get the reference, and maybe someone can clarify what that line is all about.

After Dylan (Spade) takes the dog to Uncle Harry, who can talk to animals (Lovitz), Uncle Harry apprises Dylan that he knows that Dylan put the dog in the dryer. Dylan then says, "That's Incredible," to which Uncle Harry says, "That's what Fran Tarkenton thought." (And then he makes that stupid popping sound with his mouth.) Is this some obscure reference, or is there something about Fran Tarkenton that any 70's football fan should know?

Fran Tarkenton hosted a TV show in 1980 called "That's Incredible," about people who did strange or amazing things.

I believe that while David Spade and Artie Lange are in the waiting room at the dog wisperer's office, Artie's character mentions that his uncle appeared on "That's Incredible", which was hosted by Fran Tarkenton.

Spade recognizes that the others in his life are aware of his relationship to Sophie Marceau. As a result of his appreciation for that recognition, he says "that's incredible." The film is almost spectacular, as you, Mr. David Spade are incredible.

Let this be a lesson that one should not post and use drugs.

Yeah, right -- apparently one should use the drugs and then post, to take the sting out of the biting sarcasm displayed by such as you.

Fran Tarkenton & Kathy Lee Crosby "That's Incredible" a TV show from the late 70's/early 80's which wasn't in itself very incredible, laughable. A few laugh's in this film, but on TBS all the funny stuff and language is cut, so,....Smoke another Beer and Chug A Bottle of Wacky Tobacky!

Tarkenton had a brief and unmemorable television career, he should have stuck with football commentary.

And this piece of garbage film should have never been made. The Sat. Nite Live leftovers that are so unfunny, Ferrel, Spade, Schneider, all not funny, not talented, only here to impress the idiocracy of the poor state of society that is modern day united states, it's a shame and mockery of good comedy

It was a funny movie - although I can get people panning it if they are a dog lover. It's my favorite Spade film (and I didn't think Joe Dirt was all that funny).

Besides, the female lead looks like an ex-girlfriend. So it's earned a permanent place in my video library.
