'Never. You're my only.' (possible spoilers)

Hatsue answers the above when her husband asks "Have you ever done this before" on their wedding night. I thought that she had and was lying to him. But I suppose, in the last cedar scene, she might have ran away from Ishmael before they actually did 'it'.
So basically I'm not sure if she was lying to her husband or not and was wondering what you guys think and how it was in the book.
Thanks.

reply

In the book, they did actually have intercourse, although it was interrupted when she ran away.

Does she also say something similar to her husband on their first night?

reply

I thinks she's trying to get by on a technicality. "Never (in a bed). You're my only (Japanese man)."

reply

I never saw the movie(although I plan on watching it soon) but in the book, Ishmael went in once, I think, and then she said she couldn't do it anymore and they stopped.

reply

Just another lie she told. She's full of crap.

I kinda thought she was lying ... as it seemed to me like she and Ishmael had gone there. But can you imagine her saying ... Oh ya ... with a white man ... but lets not talk about that now ... carry on.
