Was that a ruby embedded in the concrete column the construction workers were erecting? I must have missed the significance during the movie.

It's worn by the redhead who was one of Sinise's accomplices. The insinuation is that her body is inside the column.

Yep. As Santoro is escaping the store room there are people disposing of the bodies of Dunne's accomplices, there's a cement truck in the background.

She was the red head, who was actually a blond and murdered by Dunne, her boss, in an attempt to maintain control and silence over the conspiracy.🐭
