I'm sure there's a good reason, explaing why the brother's were in their underwear, the majority of the film. I just can't think of one. Any thoughts?

Being a child of the 70's, it was very commonplace for young, and pre-teen boys
to lounge around, and sleep in underwear. I can't speak for other countries, but that's the way it was back in my childhood, and my friends' childhood as well.

I laughed so hard seeing that. I was born in '64 and spent many a breakfasts eating cereal in my whity tighties! I am mesmerized by this film. It doesn't hurt that I am a sucker for anything Marisa Tomei.

Can confirm. I slept in my underware as a kid and got up to watch Saturday morning cartoons.. in my underware.

I stand by what I said but would be happy to amend my statement slightly. As a rule, barring extreme conditions that prevent it--freezing temperatures, presence of strangers, sexual frustration brought on by membership in oppressive religious group--men wear as little as possible when at home.

you cant be serious? brothers in their underwear hanging out is a mystery to you? they were wearing more clothes,in private,than many girls wear in public.

I am 33 (born in 1973) and my brother is 36 (born in 1970)...as kids we always wore our tidy-whitey underwear around the house. This was extremely commonplace in our American household. And to connect it even more to the movie, we were Jewish and did this.

I was born in 1969. In the seventies my twin brother and I would walk around the house in our underwear. I can't remember what my sister (11 months younger) was walking around in. But those were the weekends where we were just be lazy and living like pigs for a while until my mom got up and screamed at us to clean up and get productive. I have no idea why kids would NOT do that today. Maybe PJs or boxers?

While I personally never lounged around the house in my tighty whities as a boy I’m sure there were plenty others who did. Every time I watch this film I wonder if the actors felt awkward doing those scenes.
