Why does he keep claiming to be 'the best pilot ever'

How is someone the best pilot ever? He's piloting a single engine plane. It's not like it's an advanced fighter jet. I don't understand why he feels so confident in possessing this title.

reply

He's egotistical. That's why.

reply

Because he used to fly the Millennium Falcon duh!

reply

EXACTLY

PLUS All pilots say they are the best

You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!

reply

It's like any other car driver who feels he is the best.

reply

All pilots thing they're the best. Best pilots. Best businessmen. Best lovers. Ask anyone of us.

reply

Yeah, that's true. Those pilots that THINK they are the best piss me off as a pilot because I KNOW I am the best!

:-)

Wanna really know why we think like that? Go to your local airport and take a "Discovery Flight" at the local flight school. You'll actually get to fly an airplane for a few minutes, but the important thing is the pucker factor as you're coming in for a landing and are near the threshold and about 100 feet off the ground. That bile you feel in your throat, the knowledge that you're flying at about 80 miles an hour and headed straight for the ground - on purpose yet - and only the guy (or gal) over there in the left seat can do this safely is what we all when through...

and more to the point, still go through. We have to put trust in our training, and when we're finally safe on the ground, realize that WE did that. The number of people in the world that can do that is quite finite, and WE can.

That's why we all think we're the best...

But I KNOW I am!

reply

reply

reply

Don't forget Gordon Cooper's reply, when asked, "Who's the best pilot you ever saw?" His response was, "Well, you're looking at him."

reply

You can tell this size of a pilots stick by the size of his watch.
