Tis true , my grandmothers fiance died on gold beech , he trained the canadians , for years it was a taboo subject , even when she met my grandfather it was never spoke of until we found love letters and photos she hid from our family in her belongings, they moved on as my grandmother did , no fuss , kept everything to themselves, must of been millions like her , young , there lives ahead of them , taken in an instant.

In real life no one else died. When the three Niland brothers were listed as KIA, the Army went in and picked up the last one. No muss. No Fuss.

In real life it was later discovered that one of the other brothers had actually been taken prisoner and not killed.
