Can any Jewish people tell me about the significance of the bath?

Was it a simple spa for Jewish women or was there some significance. It seemed at both relaxing, soothing and ritualistic.

Mikveh is a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism. Several biblical regulations specify that full immersion in water is required to regain ritual purity after ritually impure incidents have occurred. Most forms of impurity can be nullified through immersion in any natural collection of water.
Its main uses nowadays are by Jewish women to achieve ritual purity after menstruation or childbirth, by Jewish men to achieve ritual purity, as part of a traditional procedure for conversion to Judaism. Hope I was able to answer your question. I'm not Jewish, but my step daughter is and I also find Jewish tradition very interesting.
