Why did Ben Stiller keep..............

Why did he keep squirting blood up on the ceiling from the needle after he shot up? He did it everywhere-a public restroom, at a party, at his friends house. Why did he keep squirting his blood on the ceiling?

reply

so u can get rid of the blood in your rig

when you slam you pull bag your rig to flag your shot. *to ensure you hit a vein*

then afterwords there is blood left in the barrel of the rig. so you shoot it on the wall floor or roof.

it's quite common among junky's

Oh ok I see. Thanks. I am going to start looking for blood stains on the ceilings of public restrooms from now on.

reply

Err wrong. He was a dick !! Junkies reload the blood to get every bit of heroin and put it back in there veins.

reply

I knew exactly what this thread would be about when I read the title.

That don't sound right. You put it all into your vein and their is nothing left in it. Maybe a slight tiny bit of blood you clean out with water but I've never seen anyone squirt it onto the celing. I've seen people squirt it in their mouth or in the sink but it's just water with a tiny bit of blood. Comparable to a drinking a glass of juice and seeing a tiny bit of residue from the juice still in the cup.

The guy was probably shooting blood onto the celieing because he was a retard. Sometimes addicts do stupid things when they are high. Or maybe addicts are different in LA. I know they don't do that where I live.

after you flag the 2nd time there is blood in the rig bud.

and if you got good DOPE you are rushing so hard you just shoot the blood on the ceiling plus if you look up in junky bathroom areas there is blood on the ceilings... so it contributes.. cuz you just blast it up there to match it.

yeah...I find those scenes to not be gratuitous, or strictly artistically motivated at all...blood definitely ends up on the ceiling...

Definitive answer:

I had to read the book to figure this out. One of the primary reasons that Jerry did heroin at all was to be "cool." Seems dumb right? But that was a primary motivation of his entire life, he wanted to be one of the bohemian, revolutionary, devil may care, artistic elite. Doing heroin to be like W.S. Burroughs is a primary motivation of his life. By the time he figured out that nurses, lawyers, accountants, even sports jocks, can be junkies, that he wasn't that special with his drug choice, it was far too late in his addiction.

Most junkies wake up at the crack of dawn, do their first scam of the morning while they are shaking and getting sick, fix in their car as soon as they cop their drug, exist in a plantlike state for a while, hustle, scam, steal and borrow for their second high, go to sleep and repeat.

Jerry was making $3,000 to $4,000 per week and spent all of it on heroin, he would wake up, do heroin, go to work, do heroin, at lunch do heroin, go home, the wife would be there, he'd ignore the wife, go the bathroom, do heroin, and before he went to bed he would do heroin, wake up at 2am do heroin, get up at the crack of dawn and do more. He would do a cold shake of 20 dilaudid 6 times a day. His dealer got rid of all of his other customers because Jerry bought all of the drugs that the skinhead could obtain. His monkey was somewhere between 50 and 100 times larger than a typical junky's habit. And of course, even with that much heroin, he wasn't even getting high, he was just feeding the monkey.

After he would shoot up, to show the world that he wasn't just some hack sitcom writer, that he was cool and bohemian, he would deliberately spray his blood in some sort of heroin junky mark of zorro on the ceiling.

In short, a complete and utter wastebasket full of self hatred, doing his best to destroy everyone around him, and everything he loved.

Thank you for explaining this edt-9. I saw this movie on ABC's late night movies or whatever they were calling it in the 90's and wondered for a long time.

You complain about spoilers. I complain that you came here without watching the movie first.

What type of milligram of Dilaudid are you talking about?! Let me try to figure this one out, if I can even. Cold shakes means he was getting sick, or , is that what you mean?just starting to feel 'unwell'? On the top of my game I done 56 mgs. of Dilaudid in 2, maybe 2 1/2 hours and I didn't even get off none. And when I had Demerol tabs, they done used to kill me with silly, silly severe headaches! My ultimate best was liquid Valium shots, dag that definitely got me feeling straight and decent! I can't see feeling kind of lousy with a buck twenty of Dilaudid in your system, I don't care how bad your habit may/might be at that point in time!

reply

A "cold shake" is a term when you crush up Dilaudid and put the powder in the back of your syringe and then draw water into your works, then you proceed to shake the syringe hence the term. I don't understand how liquid Valium would get you straight from being dopesick since it isn't a opiate but a benzo it would take the edge off but definitely not get you straight

Interesting replies, but for me I took his spurting the blood on the ceiling as a form of ejaculating during orgasm. In this case, his orgasm consisted of shooting his wad of heroin mixed blood onto his surroundings and it was a proverbial "Fock You" to the reality he lives in. It's akin to the porn genre of men who ejaculate all over women's faces after reaching climax.
