I always thought Chessy was actually called Jessie, until I looked at the credits at the end of the film.

did anyone else think that?

I found an interesting definition here:

Chessy

A sexy young girl, with large breasts, beautiful eyes and a smile to match. Not a whore but up for it.

Also an uncommon nickname for Francesca.
"I hope that girl's a Chessy"
"She's such a Chessy!"

I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever seen this movie thought that.

I think that must be a pretty common mis-hear. Most people I know, including myself, thought it was Jesse at first too, until they looked it up, watched with subtitles, or were told by someone else.

This is my signature.

Why did the writers give the character a non name anyway?

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Maybe they were trying to be unique with her name before being unique with names was cool?

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

The movie was recently screened on British TV, I happened to have the sub titles on which definitely showed her as Jessie numerous times. Then again on the DVD when Hallie arrives in London and says "This is it, 7 Pembrook Lane" the captions say 7 Primbrook Lane so they do get it wrong.
