Streep's Performance

I have always been kind of hot and cold on the career of Meryl Streep. I don't find every performance as mesmerizing as the critics seem to. I always seem to really enjoy her performances in films that are generally dismissed by critics. I thought she was brilliant in DEATH BECOMES HER but no one ever says two words about her performance in that film. However, I have to say that I thought she was incredible in this one. Her interpretation of the physicality of someone with a lfe-threatening disease was quietly heartbreaking and realistic. I can't recall in recent years a movie character whose pain I felt more than Streep's character here. Superlative performance by a Hollywood icon.

I love Meryl's performance in this, she makes it so much more emotional, you believe in everything she's going through.

However, Death Becomes Her is my favourite Streep film, the whole film is just great and Meryl and Goldie Hawn are fantastic in their parts. Meryl's a terrific actress!!!

What do I see, It's the question I'm most afraid of.....LOL

Death Becomes Her....that was funny.

Anyway....I love Meryl so much....but I think this was one of her best performances ever.

Meryl performances I loved most:
- One True Thing
- Sophie's Choice (standing ovation please)
- Bridges Of Madison County
- The Hours
- The French Lieutenant's Woman

She is always good, even in bad films.
My Favs:
Postcards from the Edge
Sophie's Choice
Out of Africa
Angels in America
Adapatation
Silkwood
Deerhunter
Kramer v Kramer

Maryl Streep is a goddess!

Recently, One True Thing has been airing again on cable as has Shakespeare in Love. Fifteen years after the fact, it's sort of hard to believe that Paltrow's performance was ever considered in the same category as Streep's, much less beat her in the Oscar race.

Love her in this... Off the top of my head, I'd rank:

5) One True Thing
4) She-Devil
3) Kramer v. Kramer / Tie with Holocaust
2) Post Cards from the Edge
1) Devil Wears Prada

And I love when she sings in Post Cards, as well as in Momma Mia and Prairie Home Companion...

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"....

I just saw this movie yesterday. I would agree NONE other than the legend herself had the ability to channel this kind of true, believable emotion, suffering and pain and make it feel real. Hands down, she's a freak of nature.
