WHAT A CROCK !!!

MORE LIBERAL PABLUM FROM HOLLYWOOD

This movie is a joke as it makes all Americans appear to be War Mongering Thugs, almost akin to the Nazi Invasions of Europe during the outset of WWII.

Btw, I guess we should not mention General Santa Ana's actual torture and eventual murder of all the male survivors at the Alamo. To do that would Sterotype all Hispanics as War Mongering Thugs like ourselves !!!

Like that would do any good. Didn't you know they're all written by the "liberal intellectual elite," or something? Straight from the pit of hell, I tell you!

Nothing is nice about war. During the Mexican-American War, neither side were "perfect little angels".

many americans, including ulysses s. grant, thought that america was being a warmongering thug in the mexican-american war.

baby can you dig your man?
he's a righteous man.

Absolutely right. Congressman Abraham Lincoln made a very famous speech on the floor of the House of Representatives deploring the war while it was being fought.

The first encounters before war was declared happened on the north side of the Rio Grande, territory whose ownership was disputed between the US and Mexico. These battles might never had been fought if President Polk had not ordered Zachary Taylor to move his army south of the Nueces River (the border of Texas recognized by Mexico) in order to provoke a response that would allow an excuse for him to ask Congress to declare war.

In his critically acclaimed memoirs, Ulysses Grant stated about the Mexican-American War "I was bitterly opposed to the measure, and to this day regard the war, which resulted, as one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation. It was an instance of a republic following the bad example of European monarchies, in not considering justice in their desire to acquire additional territory."

And that's not Hollywood drivel.

And so...yet another war being fought even as it had strong opponents and not much popular support, just because the people in key positions of influence wanted it and sold it as patriotic. The more things change...

Oh how I wish " The Stand " would be shown on TV .. It's been a long time .. I have it on DVD .. but I like to watch it when I know others are watching it .. A righteous man indeed .

"Bu-hu! We were the bad guys"... You should open up a history book, you'll be surprised.

And about Texas, it's funny that you people "forget" that it was an interference of anglo immigrant slavers in a country where slavery was illegal. And that was the main *beep* point of their so called "independence".
