Why the change of Felix's personality?

In the original film Felix was sensitive. Here he swears like a sailor.

maybe he became a grumpy old man.

I know, his (character) personality was likable, here it is way too harsh like agitated as if he didn't take his medication or something.

30 years and 3 failed marriages can do that to a guy. And he only really swore when Oscar pissed him off. Have your friend lose $10k of your money and see if you don't curse.
