They gay man - George - is not the father of Nina's (Nina is the one played by Jennifer Anniston). They are just room mates, but Nina is in love with George even thought he's gay. I'm not entirely sure why they were making out. But the father of Nina's baby is named Vince. You really should watch the whole movie. It's good. Or read the book, though they are very different.

It is a tale of misguided love, a story about how emotions can cloud a persons judgement. Although Nina knows that George is Gay she cannot hide her feelings.
But I see what you mean about it being confusing... especially in the 'sex' scene. I really thought that George was reciprocating Nina's feelings.... until the phone rang.

I have been through this myself...

I'm a gay guy and got "close" to a girl friend. It happens.

How can a gay guy get "close" to a girl?

Maybe they should just call themselves bisexual. That would make it easier for gay guys, since there are so many straight people who think gay guys choose to be that way (since clearly they can be with women too).

When you run around telling everyone you're gay and yet you're getting "close" to women, it makes straight people wonder about gay people.

lol, you're replying to a decade old post.

I don't think George reciprocated her feelings. More like he was being charitable to her. I'm gay, and back in high school (late '90s), I had a girl friend who had a thing for me. It wasn't really awkward, since we were such good friends, always hanging out and were often touchy-feely with each other (e.g. hugging, cuddling, kiss on cheeks). You could say she was my fag hag.

Anyway, one day, we were at her place, lying on the sofa that pulled out into a bed, watching a movie (The Ref). We were huddled together, with a blanket covering us. After the movie, we just lay there, talking. Eventually, she started rubbing my chest and then her hand started wandering. At first, I was a bit taken aback, but I didn't stop it. I gotta admit, it felt good being rubbed/massaged all over. When she got to my pants zipper, I just let her open it and go to town. Yes, she did go down on me and I liked it, but it doesn't make me any more straight than a BJ from a gay man would make a straight guy gay.

We never did it again, but I did allow her that one time. I've wondered if perhaps George was being as generous to Nina... until they were interrupted by the phone call. 

ETA: I believe that sexuality is a fluid. While some people are strictly straight or gay (like myself), many more fall on a spectrum. This is where bisexuality comes in, and there are varying degrees. For instance, someone may be equally attracted to both sexes, while someone else may enjoy sex with men but prefers women for romance and relationships.

But Marvel, did she know that you were gay? And if so why did she make her moves on you?

Kay: Senators and presidents don't have men killed.
Michael: Oh, who's being naive, Kay?

reply

Yes, she knew I was gay. Everyone knew. I was out in high school. Anyway, I honestly think it was a conquest thing with her, senior year, but she also told me I was 'cute.' I know that, the same year, she also went down on two acquaintances who were already dating others. One took place at the school store, where she and this kid, Kenny, were manning it. The other, at her house, when she and this other kid, Fred, were working on a school project together. I know this 'cause she told me and seemed proud of it. Years later, she and Fred seriously dated and had a kid, but it wasn't lasting.
