Other movies that are 'so 90's'?

Has there ever been made another film that is "more" 90's than this one?

Depending on your definition, "Natural Born Killers" could be. That movie's ideas could have only been done in the 90s. You really don't know what is going on until the end. The characters never even know the message they are giving.

If you can get past the part where they kill pretty much everyone, it is really really good. It is not a gore movie or grusome.

reply

Hey equinizzle. why am I a dumbass?

I meant 90's in the style of fashion, the music, and the seemingly constant longing for the 80's that the main characters seem to inherit (as we all know, the 80's lasted until 1995) :-)
This film surely reminded me a lot of the 90's (for better and for worse).

Give me title that's more "90's" then.. smartass

To Starski: Good point. I've seen Natural Born Killers and I liked it.

Wayne's World/2 maybe?
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (yes the movie) Note: it is not as good as the show.

I will post more when I think of more :P

I found the references to the 80's to underline that it was really 90's film. I found the outfits (not only those of the two main characters of course) to be very 90's. And the music.. hello! this could NOT have been made in another decade.

yes! Waynes World is very 90's, thank you Starski.

Homer Simpson: I'll grab that popsicle and shove it up your ass and turn you into a bat. DOH!

reply

Mallrats is a very good example. Like "Roxbury" it shows us the 90's while mixing in throwbacks to the 80's during the film. And it's *beep* funny too!

Clueless

reply

Yes! Clueless is a perfect example of a 1990's movie. Good burger is also a great example, so is Waynes World. In fact, I'd say most SNL movies from the 1990's or movies staring people from SNL like Chris Farley in Tommy boy are 1990's movies. Now correct me if you guys think I'm wrong but would Independane day be a good example of a 1990's move? Not so much the style, but it is about Aliens, and Aliens and alien abduction seemed to be a staple of 1990's culture. It also starred Will Smith who was very popular in the 1990's from his hit tv show fresh prince. I think I'm reading into this too much, lol.

I wouldn't call this a purely 90's movie. This could have come out today and would not be dated one bit.

It's a sign of my relative lack of trendiness, that the line between contemporary culture and 90's culture is not as acute to me as it is to others.

Pump Up The Volume

reply

Empire Records is definitely 90s. So is Clueless, like someone mentioned, and(even though it's a cartoon) A Goofy Movie. And Can't Hardly Wait is very late 90s.

Oh my god a goofy movie was tht the one where they skateboarderd tht was so 90s and i remember they passed a movie theater and on the sign it said "pup Fiction" haha

"I have nipples Greg, could you milk me?"

reply

I think the Sister Act movies are pretty 90s. They're early 90's though so they're kind of 80's too. If that makes sense. :P

reply

I agree with dmcvargas-1 in some ways, but i think the topic was looking for essentially 90's movies which not all of urs are. yes they are great 90's movies, but most could have been just effective in other times. i mean in relation to drig culture, then pulp fiction and trainspotting were very 90', but while they are undoubtedly films of the 90's, i'm not sure if they are fils the completely represent the 90's. As for the rest of ur list, i don't think there is much that would have to be changed for the films to have been from any other decade...(what u mean is...while the film is a 90's film, set in the 90's, the film theme and story could have been changed to fit most decades)... while night at the rox is essentially a 90s film. it wouldn#t work in the 80's or the 00's... it may not be a cinema masterpiece, but it has enough to be a 90's masterpiece... among a select few...lol

It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes

reply

excuse my last post ... masterpiece was definitely a bit strong... a good repersentation of the early 90's is what i meant...lol
