Would a documentary been the better way to go?

I think the movie was acceptable. The actors were great but the movies direction did suck. They did the same thing, showed a lot of bank robbing montages, laughing, spending the money, greed and all that but there was nothing that made you care about the characters. In the film Bonnie and Clyde we see how if you rob a bank you end up selling part of your soul. You get noticed everywhere until you have to live in seclusion and eventually you get caught or killed. I know they got caught and lived to be elders but this film never goes into how each of these guys felt about any of it. This movie is shock and awe, more action than documentation. I would rather have seen a narrated film that really showed more of the little things than the one liners and glamour. It turned out to be another bank robber movie, but without the cool classic western shootouts. I did really like the end credits, great to see the old guys telling it how it was.
Sorry if I don't make any sense in this posting, just thought I would try.
