.. None of the characters are depicted as particularly sympathetic, or especially competent, up until the climax.. The audience isn't given much of a reason to care for these assumedly college-aged delinquents/informants..

We're never led to understand just what the police captain (Denis Farina, wasted here) even saw in these sullen twits to divert them from a jail sentence and put them on the payroll. When he's killed relatively early in the film, we don't have a chance to find out, either.

Julie lights her philandering boyfriend's car on fire, which happened at least 4 years before in "Waiting to Exhale"..

The scene where the Mobster boss decides to dance with Linc seemed to come out of another film entirely..

...The group of people I saw this with got more of a kick out of Eddie Griffin's cameo than Omar Epps' entire performance.

the only role I envied was Claire Danes' pants.
