Giovanni Ribisi's Performance

Did anyone else think that Givovanni Ribisi put on a really good performance in this. He really stole scenes, and is probably the best thing about this film. His character is weird and socially awkward which he captures to perfection Yet despite this he is able to dish out very emotional moments, like when he breaks down after blood is splattered on him and when he goes to his parents for help. Just from his face we can see the tension that exists between them.

In my opinion he is one of the most underrated actors out there.

I used to know his mom pretty well but we sort of fell out of communication when I moved back up to Northern California.

She's a very good talent manager, and has taken up photography lately so if you're into underwater photography in particular here is a good site http://www.gayribisi.com/ for her work.

You obviously haven't seen all of his movies if you think he acts the same in every one.

Well his example was from Friends, not another film.

He said "he acts exactly the same in every movie".

I know, he's always the best thing about everything! I haven't even seen this one yet, but I really need to. :)

Yes Ribisi is great in this and is one of the better young actors out there right now.

Better to regret something you did, than something you didn't do!

I finally did see it (I got it from ebay).
It's not one of my favorites, although G. is great as always! :)

Yes, it's definitely a watch-it-for-Giovanni movie. Kind of like The Postman and Masked and Anonymous. I have yet to finish either of those. Once he's off, I get bored really fast, lol.

Oh, I know! I watched the beginning (I'm not sure how many minutes, maybe the first hour if that) of The Postman, and that was it! There was no point in watching the rest of that 3-hour thing. However, Masked and Anonymous was not too bad for me. I didn't really plan to pay attention the remainder of it, but I kept watching it anyway. :)

I just didn't get it- Masked and Anonymous, I mean. Maybe I should try watching it again. I was just waiting the whole movie for Giovanni to come on and then I was really bummed at his demise. I watch movies for all the wrong reasons, lol.

reply

No, that's the reason I watch those movies too! :) The one I saw that almost wasn't worth it was Lost Highway. (It just happened to be on some movie channel, and he was only in that for maybe a minute. I was still a good minute, though!) :)

reply

Lost Highway! I actually bought that movie and was rather disappointed in his 45 second appearance! He did look hot though. I couldn't make any sense of the movie, lol.

I know; I didn't really get that whole thing. That Postman movie almost put me to sleep before his time was up! :)

I agree. Giovanni was the ONLY thing worth watching in this movie. He was so great in it. The moment at the beginning when he says, "Can you hear me?" and flips the cop off- I knew I was going to like his performance. If it wasn't for him, I would've never finished this lame movie.

I don't get it, doesn't anybody remember the original Mod Squad, his performance was so off the wall, he was acting like a total idiot which is okay but they should not have called it The Mod Squad because it takes away from the original, I mean Michael Cole's character Pete never acted like this, that would be like Sean Connery's character James Bond acting like Ribisi did in this movie and still calling himself James Bond, but don't get me wrong I like the kid and I think he's an excellent actor. That's what I think anyway.

Ive always thought Ribisi was a great actor. And easily the best part of this movie - he had the most given in the script that wasnt bad. Some dont like him, but I think he brings something special to everything hes in.

I hate how IMDb signatures look like part of the post.

I think the movie was pretty good, and Vonni is one of my favorite actors. He really does need to be noticed, he is a great actor. He is in a movie that just got completed not to long ago with Jonny Depp and Christioan Bale called Public Enemies.

He was also great in The dog Problem. Which reminds me, he needs to be in more movies with Scott Caan they were great in that together.Gone in 60 Seconds too.

I like the guy, but his performance is this one is somewhere on the verge between trying to be funny and over the top or just being plain annoying. He tries to pull a Nic Cage of some sort but that's not within his range it seems.
