I haven't actually seen the whole thing yet. I try not to watch further than I've read, but I've watched up to the point where the captain who lost a hand comes onto the Pequod, and still no sign of Elijah who appears much earlier than this in the book and the 1956 version. When exactly is he going to show up? Much later? Some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Uh, no man. Not Elijah Wood. I mean Elijah the character. The dockside prophet who warns Ishmael and Queequeg about the voyage. He's played by Bruce Spence, but I don't recall seeing him.
He showed up a few times when they were still in Nantucket. It's the guy that follows Ishmael to the inn. A little later he watches Ahab and the mysterious figures board the Pequod in the middle of the night. And right after Ishmael and Queequeg sign the contract he talks to them, shouting something along the lines of ONLY ONE!!! ONLY ONE!!!
