6/10 is a joke guys

Seriously, this was in the "top ten worst bluckbuster movies that made over 200 mil dollars at domestic box office" at number 10. Is this movie really that bad? No not even in the slightest. I can name 10 movies worse than this one. Its over the top action fun. That doesnt mean it has to be in the same category as twilight new moon or alvin and the chipmunks. Imdb users really have a hard time rating movies objectively.

Where does objectivity come into the rating process when what we are asked, is our subjective (!) opinion as, well, individuals?

I didn't like the film at all. Its aesthetic is so different from the other M:I movies, it really through me off. I gave it 5 out of 10 for some nice cinematography.

And I realized, I never need to (or would want to) see a John Woo film again. That's a plus, I guess.

Never watching a john woo film again is a bit hatsh though. Giving up on a filmmaker soley because he has done one movie you didnt like makes you look like an idiot.

This is probably true (harsh, I would have used less harsh words, but c'est la vie). I generally don't take a great deal of notice of who the director is as by the time I realise who has directed it I will have made my mind up whether I will see it or not. I would probably recognise the style and choose to not see one from the shorts, but woudln't categorically not see a John Woo movie again.

Michael Bay on the other hand...

Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) - both are atrocious movies. I have seen and enjoyed The Island (2005), but it did become rather yawn worthy during the chase sequences. I think it was Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson and Djimon Hounsou that saved the movie though. The last movie of his I've seen is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), and I haven't seen anything by Michael Bay since, and probably won't see anything by him again unless it was something rather special.

The only joke is that it's not rated lower. I just re-watched it, after not having seen it in probably a decade, and it was even worse than I remembered. My fiancé and I made a drinking game out of it, which at least made it somewhat more enjoyable. And since it was brought up, I wouldn't avoid a director because of one bad film, but since I've seen Broken Arrow, Windtalkers, and this film, and hated them all, I'm gonna have to agree that I'll be avoiding John Woo films in the future.
