The first twenty minutes of this movie are just awful.

It picks up and improves. But some of the scenes are just painful to watch. Bad music doesn't help.

Are you referring to the romantic scenes between Ethan and Nyah, and the close-ups on Tom Cruise's armpits and jawline? By the way, I think the music during the flamenco dance was great.

I can't think of anything good.

Ambrose hijacking the plane, Ethan climbing in the Rocky Mountains, the flamenco dance sequence, the car chase.

I checked the timer at around 22 minutes in and wondered when the story was actually going to begin. The movie is pretty dreadful, but yeah that first 20-30 minutes is the equivalent of riding an exercise bike; lots of peddling, but it doesn't go anywhere.

I turned it off at approximately minute 35. Nothing about it grabbed my attention, and Cruise gives me the creeps.

i honestly believe Mi2 was a scientology recruiting film

This i a truly horribly paced film. For being a Jon Woo over the top action movie it is strange how there is almost no action in the film until about an hour or so in. The first 30 minutes introduce the characters and try to make us care about Ethan and Nyah's relationship while the next 30 minutes takes it's time setting up the plot.

However IMO after that the film is actually quite a lot of fun. Though it is easily the weakest MI film.

Look at that turtle go bro! 

I don't understand, was it the style or the storytelling you didn't like? What would you have done differently?

reply

Just the first twenty minutes?.... I'd say pretty much every piece of film between the opening and closing credits qualifies as awful. Abysmal may be a better term.

reply

Come on man, it wasn't that bad.
