If we're all allowed ONE guilty pleasure this film has to be mine

This movie is SO BAD in a lot of ways but damn i love it! Some of the action is just kick ass and the score was bloody good. It jumps the shark at times and the plot is wafer thin but im definitely going against the grain here i enjoyed every bit of it :)

If we all had just ONE movie this is without a doubt mine.....*Takes off shades*

I have to agree with you. Thandie Newton never looked better, Tom had a great style, the mountain climb was one of the best stunt sequences ever...although I have some issues and curiosity about how the movie came together (i.e.,Sydney, John Woo, Australian actors). It's apparently due in part to some business deal. (No knowledge, just inference.)

totally agreed

its cheesy but the action is so good

If we're allowed TWO guilty pleasures, MI2 is definitely one of them!
...sshhh... the other is Con Air!

Con Air! Not seen that in years....might be time to check it out again see what your talking about :)

Oh it's so delightfully dreadful! Nicholas Cage's accent... It's awesome!

Nope. While I LOVE Tom C., my guilty pleasure is "30 Days of Night." I must have watched it 40 times, and I still let out a "Daaaang!!!" at least once at one point each time. Lol
I do love the MI movies, plot holes and all. They're just fun. As for Tom Cruise, he can be crazy all day; that man is beautiful. I'd watch him do yard work if he'd flash me one of those big grins every now and then!!

I still like MI:2. I dunno why people hate it so much. It's no more over the top than basically EVERY Bond movie ever created.

The fact Tom Cruise does so many of his own stunts makes it more watchable too. I think some of the fight scenes (especially the last one) went on a LITTLE TOO long, but other than that I thought it was good campy fun.

I don't know why people hate M:i-2 either. It is my favourite. It has the best music, best cinematography, best villain, great set pieces, best bird, ...

I thought Ghost Protocal by far the weakest of the five (but still a great film).

Cheers, John.

My guilty please, coincidentally, happens to be a different Tom Cruise movie: Cocktail.
Cocktail = the definition of guilty pleasure.

reply

Lol I didn't think this one was something I shared with someone. Cocktail... what an awful movie... but there is still something really enjoyable around it. It's kind of a feel-good movie.

Another one for me would be Rambo First Blood 2. God it's bad... but god it's entertaining.

I like it just fine and don’t feel any guilty over it. Far from one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, but it’s also far from one of the best.

While this is a weak entry in the MI series in every way (barring the highly-stylized Woo action), it’s alright for what it is. Though the fact that some people consider the sequels worse than II is mind-boggling.

But I guess this one is cool in its own cheesy way.
