Enjoy watching this like a David Lynch movie

I've been litterally stunned when watching this movie. How can it be so close to some of David Lynch works? Ugliness as beauty, symbolism and representation, apparent nonsense that makes sense deeply when you analyze the characters' personalities.

That said, madness is not seen here through the eyes of the crazy one. That's how it differs from Lynch art craft. Wim Wenders has a very personal way to tell stories, usually like a literary column about daily life transposed to the screen with genuine sincerity, while David Lynch goes more frequently into ethereal and even hardcore symbolism. In The Million Dollar Hotel, we are nearly midway to this, and it's not so typical for the German director.

For instance, I can't help but compare Agent Skinner to FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks. They look very quite the same.

And oh, have you heard about Deepak Nayar? This guy has been first assistant director of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, producer of Lost Highway, and also producer of The Million Dollar Hotel. Accident or coincidence?

interesting. I love several of Lynch's films, and Twin Peaks, but I didn't get a Lynch vibe at all from this film.
