What is up with the Golden Globes?

They classified the following movies as musicals/comedies:

- Saturday Night Fever
- The Mask of Zorro
- The Martian
- Edward Scissorhands

Now I realize that those films do cut across several genres but comedy is probably the last word I would ever use to describe any of them. For instance Mask of Zorro more than anything is an action/adventure but if I had to choose between classifying it as a drama or a comedy I would choose drama in a heartbeat. The scene of Hopkin's house being burned down is enough for me to never think of this film as a comedy. Yes it has some comic relief which isn't uncommon but it's not the main focus. The story, the plot and the characters are the main focus. So if anything I would call this an Action/Adventure/Drama.
