Not triple a stadiums

I kinda like the film, depsite the fact that the script was overly written to appease the preteen crowd (with words and comebacks that even they would find cheesy) My main problem is the realness. All of the stadiums (save for the Mertodome) were of double-a or lower qualilty. I'd even say that a few seemed like spring training or lesser leagues. That killed any sense of realism of the movie. Take a tour of triple a stadiums today, and many of them look like major league stadiums of 20 plus years ago. The producers must have produced the baseball scenes on the cheap, hence the smaller stadiums, in which they wouldn't need as many extras. Also, some of the stadiums look liike those in the short season leagues, which also would allow for easy shooting. The location directors really dropped the ball on this aspect. Other then the bad choice in stadiums, the movie does what it needs, and entertains.

They weren't even Double-A stadiums. See if you can find pictures online of the beautiful ballparks where the Tulsa Drillers or Round Rock Express play. The stadiums in this movie looked like they were at a junior high!

We love the Swanky Modes...

They were not junior high fields they were the fields for Summerville High School in South Carolina. I went to High School there and played on those same fields. That is the reason that I love this movie so much. The only field that belonged to a minor league team was the one in the final game. It is the old College Park field in Charleston.

Whoohooo go Tulsa Drillers, GO Rockies! Yeah Tulsa's got a cool stadium, this movie looks like they played at some of the stadiums I did in little league.

You are right. They aren't AAA stadiums. Minor League requirements are that AAA stadiums must seat at least 8,000-10,000. The Buzz stadium doesn't even come close.

I never really thought about that before. But you guys are right. The town I live in has a baseball stadium that used to be for a single A team. It's now used for a collegiate league team similar to the teams in Summer Catch. It is A LOT bigger and nicer than the stadiums in this movie.

It's Triple A (AAA) not "triple a."

Wow, that really added a lot to the discussion. Thank you for that essential piece of information.

I hear at most triple a stadiums you can find a wonderful selection of maps and guides for a variety of vacation ideas

No they weren't Triple-A stadiums, but not too long before the movie was made is when MiLB put the mandatory restrictions for the stadiums. Many minor league teams did play in stadiums similar to that. Granted, now most the Triple-A stadium are amazing, and close to the majors except for the seating capacity.
Part of the movie's plot, too, was to really show a difference between the majors and minors, so I'm sure they used a sub-par stadium for that purpose. I can see why they chose the stadiums they did, but yeah, some of the dialogue was cheesy.

I don't think the stadiums were meant to represent Triple A stadiums but rather emphasize that they were not playing in the Major League.
