Mafia.Top Secret.Hot Shots.Naked Gun.Airplane - any others?

Oh yeah and Police Academy, Loaded Weapon, Spaceballs, Blazng Saddles and Police Squad, and all the sequels.

I love these movies, all the clever visual comedy and spoofing. Have I missed any out?
Please let me know if there are any similar films that I haven't listed

Just saw Epic movie, and Date movie, and they both fit into the particular form of insanity that I have.

My imaginary friends won't play with me anymore! sob.

Wrongfully Accused, Spy Hard, and 2001: A Space Travesty. They all star Leslie Nielsen and 2001 is utter crap.

Kentucky Fried Movie and The Groove Tube.

It's all like some bad movie.

Why "Police Academy"? This is just *beep* and has nothing to do with the humour of the other movies you listed!

Awesome movies with this kind of humour are basically all movies by Jim Abrahams, the Zucker brothers, Mel Brooks, Monty Python, Michael 'Bully' Herbig, the Wayans brothers (their new ones are lame):

- Hot Shots!
with Charlie Sheen, Valeria Golino, Lloyd Bridges,...

- Hot Shots! 2 (my favourite!)
with Charlie Sheen, Valeria Golino, Lloyd Bridges,...

- Loaded Weapon 1
with Emilio Estevez, Samuel L. Jackson, William Shatner,...

- Mel Brooks' Spaceballs
with Bill Pulman, Rick Moranis, John Candy, Mel Brooks,...

- Monty Python and the Holy Grail
with Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle,...

- The Manitou's Shoe
with Michael Herbig, Christian Tramitz, Rick Kavanian,...

- Airplane!
with Robert Hays, Lloyd Bridges, Leslie Nielsen,...

- The Naked Gun
with Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy,...

- The Life of Brian
with Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, John Cleese,...

- Jane Austen's Mafia!
with Jay Mohr, Christina Applegate, Lloyd Bridges,...

- Scary Movie
with Anna Faris, Dave Sheridan, Marlon Wayans,...

- Robin Hood: Men in Tights
with Cary Elwes, Dave Chappelle, Roger Rees,...

- Top Secret!
with Val Kilmer, Omar Sharif, Peter Cushing,...

Bad movies, which tried to reach this humour:

- Date Movie
- Epic Movie
- Meet the Spartans

Oh yeah you right about those last 3 they really sucked. They some ok funny parts but the one that sucked the most was Epic Movie. I couldn't stand that one.

High School High was a nice and hillarious surprise for me. Repossessed might be... just ok.

I remember High School High being a pleasant and funny surprise too, though probably better because I watched it with someone who enjoyed the movie more than I would if I'd seen it alone.

The scene about Jon Lovitz and Griff talking about the scholarship had me laughing for almost a full hour. Griff's reaction is priceless!

why did everyone miss austin powers? isn't it in the same genre?
anyway i liked only the 1st and 2nd parts....the 3rd part i didn't even bother watching fully

reply

Autin Powers is a James Bond spoof, so yeah it counts as being in the same category.

Kentucky fried movie, Monty Pytons Life of Brian and The Holy Grail

Just keep away from Plump Fiction. The original is funnier then the "parody" :P

It seems all the best spoof films have been listed... sad there aren't any more. I saw "Vampires Suck" online and yeah it pretty much sucked (didn't make sense since I hadn't seen the twilight movies) but the girl who spoofs Bella is almost worth it just for her... 1, she's really cute, but 2, she gets some of Kristen Stewart's tics down pat.

Otherwise, there's the whole sub-genre of stoner comedies and while I can't really recommend more than a couple, the few I thought were funny were Fired Up!, Sex Drive, Your Highness was okay, and Pineapple Express was alright for a one-off viewing. I think there's one in the theaters now, It's the End of the World or something, and then an upcoming similar titled one, The World's End, so I get confused, but both seem fairly entertaining.

Then you have Anchorman and Bridesmaids type of films.

But yeah, the classic slapstick films seem to be a thing of the past unfortunately. I never found Young Frankenstein to be as hilarious as everyone says it is, but I'd recommend checking it out, then watching the deleted scenes on the DVD for extra jokes.

Oh, and the Muppet movies are always good fun. Muppets from Space is probably the funniest, imo, and I tend to watch it twice, the second time with Rizzo's and Gonzo's MST 3000-like commentary.
