When a woman makes it clear your heavy-handed sexual overtures are not appreciated, you need to shut up and keep it in your pants (metaphorically as well as literally). Was this subplot a stab at comedy?

I think it was. I also think it failed horribly. It wasn't funny at all, it was just offensive. It also degraded the character. The original Don West wasn't a pig. He was smart, heroic, and a class act. But I guess the makers of this movie didn't think that a character like that would do well with the audience for some reason, and that we would find a sleazebag more likeable. 

What made it extra creepy was he was doing it in front of her father. This happened more than once.
